Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary

Pookote Lake

Edakkal Caves

Banasura Sagar Dam

Banasura Sagar Dam is the largest dam in India and second largest in Asia. This is one of the most popular tourist places in Wayanad district and often represents in the promotion of Wayanad Tourism. Sagar Dam across the Karamanathodu River is in the foothills of Banasura hills. It is the third largest peak in the Western Ghats.

The dam starts to build with an aim of supporting the Kakkayam Hydro Electric Power Project in 1979 under the Indian Banasura Sagar Project. This project also aims at contributing to the drinking water and irrigation requirements of the locals during the hot summer season. The dam is made up of stones and rocks. Lakkidi
